On Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a directive requiring each and every member of Pakistan's parliament and provincial assemblies to submit their statements of assets and liabilities by December 31, including those of their spouses and dependents.
For the 2021-2022 fiscal year, all parliamentarians are required to submit their annual statements of assets and liabilities on Form B by the preceding June 30. These statements must also include similar information about their spouses and dependent children.
On January 1st of each year, the commission publishes the names of members who fail to submit the required asset and liability statement within the timeframe outlined in subsection (1).
In this manner, the commission will suspend the enrollment of an individual from a gathering or Senate on January 16, who neglects to present the proclamation of resources and liabilities "and such Part will quit working till (s) he records the assertion of resources and liabilities".
In addition, the ECP stated that any member who submits a false statement of assets and liabilities in material details in accordance with this section may be prosecuted for corrupt practice within 120 days of the statement's submission.
According to the ECP, the required form can be obtained for free from the Election Commission of Pakistan Secretariat in Islamabad, as well as from the offices of provincial election commissioners in each province, the Senate Secretariat, the National Assembly, and provincial assembly secretariats.
